That sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Well, it is. So I thought I’d shout about it a little here.
In 2018 I was awarded the Margret Carey Illustration Scholarship for my above work on ‘A Tapestry Tail’. You can read all about the scholarship in my blog post here.
I also won the 2018 Moniack Mhor Writing for Children award for the same work! This award was for an unpublished picture book author/illustrator and required a complete text, a rough dummy and some finished artwork. Although the award is usually for a place on the Moniack Mhor picture book retreat, the 2018 unfortunately had to be cancelled. The fantastic team at Moniack Mhor were not defeated, and I was offered some one-to-one mentoring as an alternative. I was deeply disappointed not to be able to attend the retreat, but the mentoring was absolutely fantastic. In fact, you’ll have to wait to hear more about that as the process is not yet concluded..
But in the mean time, you can read more about the Moniack Mhor Writing for Children award here.
